Association for Specialist Fire Protection

ASFP members cover a broad spectrum of the fire protection industry including: Product manufacturers; System and product installers; Product testing and assessing authorities; Fire Risk Assessors; Certification bodies; and associated groups and organisations from both UK and around the world.

The ASFP offers the following categories of UK membership:

 

CONTRACTORS

Applicants for this category of membership shall:

1) Demonstrate a current track record in passive fire protection.
2) Provide evidence of appropriate levels of insurance
3) Provide evidence of employed staff e.g. CITB levy notice
4) Submit one year’s accounts (unless applying for probationary membership)
5) Have attained third party certification
6) Only employ workers in strict compliance with current legal practices.
7) Comply with the code of practice for the supply, design and installation of “Built-In” passive fire protection products or systems.

If an applicant is unable to demonstrate the required track record, probationary membership may be granted in the interim.  (Probationary members are entitled to all benefits of Full Members other than displaying the logo or being entitled to use the Contractor's Letter of Endorsement).

 

MANUFACTURERS

Applicants for this category of membership shall:

1) Provide details of the “Built-In” passive fire protection products or systems manufactured.
2) Provide evidence that the products/systems comply with the requirements and conditions of entry into the appropriate ASFP publications.
3) Comply with the code of practice for the supply, design and installation of “Built-In” passive fire protection products or systems.


DISTRIBUTORS

Applicants for this category of membership shall:

1) Provide details of “Built-In” passive fire protection products or systems distributed.
2) Provide evidence that the products/systems comply with the requirements and conditions of entry into the appropriate ASFP publications.
3) Comply with the code of practice for the supply, design and installation of “Built-In” passive fire protection products or systems.

 

ASSOCIATE MEMBERS

Associate membership can be taken on a company basis or for a specific individual. It is suitable for those who wish to have a voice in developing industry guidance, and helping influence legislation. Associate members include organisations such as consultants, test laboratories, local authorities and educational establishments, assessors, regulatory and training bodies.  Applications are considered on an individual basis in accordance with the ASFP membership application process.
