The 24-year old Dubai-based Thomas Bell-Wright International Consultants (TBW) is a privately held, UKAS accredited firm of about 100 people providing independent testing, inspection and certification (TIC) services for building construction. Over the last 10 years, the laboratory has been investing to address the growing demand for services in relation to passive fire protection.
After recently adding BS 8414 Parts 1&2, the UK test for fire propagation in cladding, two new furnaces have also been commissioned with substantial new scope added to the company’s UKAS accreditation.
The new 4m x 5m vertical and horizontal furnaces, which are both load-bearing, are now available to provide accredited testing. Enlarging the scope of accreditation for the existing 3m x 3m furnace, TBW can now offer to test coatings, HVAC ducts, penetration seals, beams, columns, floors, roofs and full curtain wall assemblies, on top of its earlier scope.
The company will continue to provide its unique multicultural scope of testing standards from the UK, EU and the US, including particularly EN 13501-1, ASTM E 84, NFPA 285 and NFPA 268 standards. The company, also a UKAS-accredited certification body, promises no let-up in its commitment to provide test reports in under a fortnight and certifications generally in under a month.
