Optimum firestopping for Factory No 1

Optimum fire-stopping division are delighted to be working on the latest phase of the Factory No 1 project, having completed all previous phases.

The existing Victorian buildings, Consort House and Regent House, on Bedminster’s East Street, were originally built in the 1880s as offices for the Imperial Tobacco Company factory on the same site. City & Country purchased the buildings in 2014 and renamed the site Factory No 1.

The £40 million development will convert the existing offices into residential space, creating 247 homes in total. It will include six new apartment blocks linked together with a landscaped podium deck, with stepped community gardens and concealed parking for the residents.

With a mixture of refurbishment and new build, many challenging passive fire protection aspects have been overcome during the project to ensure the most current regulations and guidance are being adhered to.
