After delivering a range of passive fire protection work for clients such as the NHS, Recom Solutions Ltd was appointed to oversee the surveying and undertaking of passive fire protection remedial works at Backford Hall for the Emerson Group.
This entailed a full review of the fire strategy, a compartmentation survey across all communal areas of the building and the production of a remedial programme. The key to the successful delivery of this project was the stakeholder liaison with residents and client, given the aesthetic quality of the building and that it was a residential property.
Since the works were undertaken in a live residential environment, it was essential to ensure effective communication of accurate information. Recom used a range of Rockwool products to install across the project, including intumescent putty pads, firestop compounds, pipe collars, pipe wraps, high expansion sealant and ablative coated batt.
What Recom Solutions did differently:
- maintained thorough stakeholder engagement and adopted a hands-on approach when it came to managing the commencement of works on site
- maintained constant communication with all stakeholders to ensure works could be carried out as efficiently as possible with minimal disruption to residents
- ensured a coordinated, holistic view of the building was taken with the most efficient strategy for the works chosen
- undertook quality assessments and follow on surveys to ensure works were completed to an appropriate standard.
