ASFP Training Officer

The Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) is a trade association of over 200 members including test laboratories, certification bodies and inspectors, along with manufacturers and installers of passive fire protection products such as fire doors and curtains, fire-stopping, fire resisting ducts and dampers, fire protection to structural steelwork etc. See www.asfp.org.uk.
We are looking for a Training Officer reporting to the Head of Training to develop and maximise training opportunities and provision. Responsibilities will include (not exhaustively): delivering ASFP branded CPD presentations on subject matter in line with the Association’s core values and key messages, or topics relevant to current issues; and carrying out training sessions to delegates in support of the ASFP foundation course in passive fire protection, delivered at Level 2 (4-day course) and Level 3 (7-day course).
The Training Officer would also be expected to offer support to the Head of Training in researching, developing and exploiting new training opportunities via new market sectors and/or course material or subject matter; and to promote the ASFP learning and development program and platform via events, trade shows and seminars.
Duties and Accountabilities
- Become fully knowledgeable in all ASFP CPD and training materials
- Deliver ASFP training content and become confident in conveying in a style that maximises the transfer of information to delegates and/or candidates.
- Keep up-to-date and in good order all training records.
- Develop new training markets and revenue streams.
- Develop new training material and courses.
- Promote CPD and training via all types of media and events.
- Provide support to the Head of Training as necessary
The successful applicant will understand the market for fire protection products and/or services in the construction arena. They will have relevant experience in the application and use of products and methods, plus standards and compliance. They will have a proven track record in CPD and/or training provision and be able to demonstrate tangible examples of the same. A marketing and/or technical background would be an advantage, as would a formal education background.
The candidate is ideally educated in relevant qualifications to the fire sector and/or industry within construction. They will have experience of product/service management in a B2B environment, strong motivation and people skills. Strong presenting and oratorial abilities are essential, plus a working knowledge of the construction industry. An understanding of the routes to market for fire protection products is desirable.
