DESIGN AWARENESS

This training explores a range of common but often misunderstood issues, including the lack of sufficient proof of concept during design, poor coordination of interfaces, and the frequent use of incompatible materials that compromise fire performance. This course also examines the difference between insulation and integrity requirements in passive systems, which are sometimes overlooked, and the specific risks linked to the overcladding of intumescent-coated structural steelwork. Each of these areas highlights how small design oversights can have significant implications for compliance, safety, and long-term performance.

The course also places emphasis on the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders throughout the design and construction process. It also discusses how new regulatory frameworks, such as the Building Safety Act, influence and shape responsibilities in this area.

By the end of the course, participants will have a clearer understanding of both the technical challenges and the regulatory drivers behind good PFP design, equipping them to make informed decisions that improve safety and compliance.

  • Once purchased, you will receive access to the course within 24 - 48 hours
  • Once the course is purchased please activate your course within 6 weeks otherwise it will expire
  • Once activated your course will then remain live on the platform for 12 months

To Notes Regarding Prices *

  • Subject to Quoted & Ordered delegate numbers.
  • For courses taken in person, as opposed to online, we do not provide travel / hotel / subsistence costs, these would be in addition to the appearance cost.
  • Charges would not be applied if appearances are for:
    • Other (non-competitive) trade associations.
    • Groups / associations made up from individual associations e.g. the CPA (Construction Products Association).
    • Regulatory groups.
    • Her Majesty’s Government groups.
    • BSI (British Standards Institute).
    • ‘Part Service Provision’ means the client / company provides the learning venue, plus hotel accommodation if required.
    • IFE member discount is applied to ‘non-member’ prices for Level 2 and 3 foundation courses at a rate of -15%.
    • All prices are subject to VAT at the current rate, unless deemed not applicable by way of instruction from HMRC.
