Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) is a trade association that specialises in passive fire safety. Formed in 1975
of a need to bring together passive fire protection manufacturers, contractors, distributors and testing/certification bodies, we develop best practice guidance on passive fire protection, influence national and international standards and deliver
skills and knowledge to all stakeholders.
This opportunity is to join our Technical & Regulatory Affairs team as Technical Assistant.
Your responsibilities will be as follows:
Reporting to the Technical Director you will provide support to colleagues and members across the organisation. You will develop your technical and regulatory knowledge and commercial awareness within building safety in all areas such as services, products,
testing, standards, regulations and certification.
You will be involved with the coordination and implementation of meetings and have the responsibility of managing information and data.
You will gain exposure to many projects and tasks while supporting the technical and regulatory functions across the organisation.
You will respond/manage technical and regulatory enquires; answer then or distribute them to the correct colleague and own the responses.
You will communicate with third parties relating to technical and regulatory operations and write reports about matters of regulations. In addition, you will manage, develop, report and help maintain all relating aspects of the CRM system, internal databases,
and records.
You understand, and then discuss ideas and concepts with peers and then persuasively put forward the organisation’s view. This will then develop into working with other organisations where mutually beneficial.
We hope that the successful candidate will move into a more senior Technical role as their skills and knowledge develops.
Skills and qualifications:
- Ideally you will have studied Engineering, Science or Technical discipline(s)
- An interest within technical and/or regulatory information is desirable
- You will have/develop commercial awareness within the building safety sector
- You must be well organised, able to build relationships externally, have strong communication (verbal and written), and have good knowledge of Microsoft office (especially Excel due to the analytical aspects)
