ASFP hosts seminar on Scottish Regulations
29 May 2024
On May 21st, 2024, we hosted our second Scotland Seminar, providing an update on the latest changes in Scottish regulations. The event saw approximately 100 attendees and six member exhibitors all attending for a day full of insights, gaining vital knowledge, and discussing the latest in passive fire protection.
Stephen Garvin from the Building Standards Division of the Scottish Government delivered updates on current developments. Followed by Senior Policy Advisor at the Scottish Government, James Clark, who expanded on these points with reflections on the next steps forward. ASFP's own Dr. Andrew Taylor (Head of Technical), spoke on Construction Product Regulations, and Alastair Brocket of Hilti gave a compelling talk titled "Passive Fire Protection - Subject to Change?". Jocelyne Fleming, Policy and Public Affairs Officer at CIOB, presented on cladding remediation and the single building assessment. David Marah, Competence Specialist at ASFP, provided the latest updates on our newest initiative: The Competency Pathway. ASFP is proud to support businesses in Scotland that are leading the charge in passive fire protection. We look forward to seeing all our Scottish members at next year's seminar. Please keep an eye out on our website for updates about any future ASFP events.
