ASFP Inspires Future Talent Through Open Doors 2025 Student Visit

13 May 2025

The Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) recently welcomed students from St. Peter’s Catholic School to its Coventry office as part of the national Open Doors 2025 initiative. The session, titled What is Passive Fire Protection?, gave 16 to 18-year-old students the chance to explore how passive fire protection plays a vital role in keeping buildings safe.

The interactive and engaging session introduced students to key principles of passive fire protection, with hands-on activities and open discussions about careers in the construction and fire safety sectors.

Feedback from the visit was outstanding. One participant shared:

“So hospitable and accommodating. Relevant and useful for what students wanted to know, and very interactive and hands-on. All had a lovely time!”

This year, Open Doors saw a 42% increase in visitors and record levels of participation across the UK. The ASFP was proud to contribute by helping young people know the importance of built-in fire safety and the career opportunities it offers.

Nadine Saxon, ASFP Operations Director, said:

“It’s brilliant to receive such positive feedback. We’re passionate about supporting the next generation and helping them discover the rewarding career paths available within our industry.”

With initiatives like Open Doors continuing to grow, the ASFP remains committed to raising awareness and supporting education around fire safety in the built environment.
