We spoke with their team to understand why this recognition matters, what the process involved, and how it supports their broader mission to improve competency across the built environment.
Putting Technical Accuracy First For Siderise, training has always been a priority — but not just any training. They believe that the most effective learning comes directly from the source. “Training is best delivered by the manufacturer themselves,” they told us, “as they are best placed to understand the product and correctly answer any queries.” With this philosophy at the core, Siderise developed a suite of training materials aimed at external stakeholders. However, they wanted more than just a well-structured programme — they wanted it independently recognised, and technically validated. “There are many bodies that offer accreditation for the structure of training, but the ASFP went one step further by also reviewing the technical accuracy of the information. That aligned perfectly with our company values.” Two Distinct Learning Streams The ASFP recognition covers two comprehensive training streams developed by Siderise: - Design & Specification Training: Aimed at professionals involved in early-stage planning, this course covers product introductions for various external façade types alongside relevant Building Regulations, industry guidance, and testing protocols.
- Project Management & Site Supervision Training: This stream goes further into installation best practice, common on-site errors, and corrective actions, ensuring learners understand both the “what” and the “how” of cavity barriers and perimeter firestops.
Both courses are grounded in real-world scenarios and reflect Siderise’s full range of passive fire protection products. A Rigorous but Rewarding Process Siderise’s journey to recognition wasn’t a quick one - the process took around 13 months from initial contact to final approval. “It was a very robust process - but worthwhile. The support and feedback from the ASFP and Milford & Marah was invaluable in helping us improve our offer. It was time well spent.” The in-depth review provided both challenge and clarity, ensuring the final training was not only engaging but fully aligned with industry expectations. Aligning with Broader Industry Goals Siderise’s decision to formalise their training offering through the ASFP scheme complements their existing focus on quality and competency. Their training is already third-party accredited to ISO 29993, and their products are assured under the CCPI scheme. “This recognition reinforces our wider commitment to competence — from our internal teams right through to the end-users and specifiers of our products.” Encouraging Others to Do the Same Their message to other manufacturers and training providers is simple: if we want to raise standards, it starts with sharing the right knowledge. “Providing products to market shouldn’t be where the journey ends. We owe it to our customers to equip them with the tools to specify the right products and install them correctly. ASFP recognition helps validate that training content is technically accurate — not just a sales tool.”
