Amanda Long: A CCPI Update for ASFP Members
11 July 2025
Since we first launched the Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI), our aim has been clear: to transform the way product information is created, assessed, and used across the construction sector. Now, nearly 18 months into our assessment programme, I’m pleased to share that we’re seeing significant traction - not just in uptake, but in meaningful change across the supply chain.
We now have over 100 product sets either fully assessed or well into the process, representing approximately 1,600 individual products that carry the CCPI mark. This is not about simple badge-collecting. Each mark represents a suite of products assessed against the CCPI’s rigorous criteria for clarity, accuracy, accessibility, and trustworthiness of product information. Encouragingly, engagement spans companies of all sizes - from multinationals to SMEs - and I’m particularly proud to see strong representation from ASFP members. Your support has been instrumental, and it’s no coincidence that the ASFP was among the first trade bodies to become a CCPI Trade Associate. You’ve helped set a standard for the rest of the industry. We’re now expanding our support structure to include Media Associates - specialist publications and trade journals who recognise the importance of publishing accurate, verifiable information. Their involvement not only amplifies the message but helps us maintain the integrity of the CCPI mark in the public domain. Beyond certification, we’ve also partnered with specification platforms like NBS, enabling architects and specifiers to search specifically for CCPI-assessed products. This is a vital step toward streamlining procurement and design decisions, making it easier to choose products whose performance has been transparently documented. The recent green paper on building safety explicitly references CCPI, a clear signal that our work is resonating at policy level. The government’s recognition of our role reinforces what we already know: clear, trustworthy product information is essential to building safer structures. We are not just reacting to regulation; we are helping shape the future standard. But this is not the responsibility of manufacturers alone. Increasingly, we are engaging the demand side - architects, contractors, and procurement teams - who are pledging to prioritise CCPI-assessed products. This shift is crucial. With materials accounting for around 60% of project costs, informed procurement is no longer optional - it is a professional imperative. We’ve also seen growing interest in procurement competency, something historically overlooked. When procurement decisions are based purely on price, product performance and compliance often suffer. The CCPI helps procurement teams make more precise, evidence-based decisions - and creates a digital footprint that supports the “golden thread” of accountability. To those who’ve already joined us: thank you. And to those still considering it: now is the time. Early adopters are already seeing the value - both in terms of internal process improvement and brand credibility. Reassessments are about to begin for our first cohort, and they’re demonstrating leadership in action. The industry is changing, and culture change starts at the top. Don’t get left behind.
