The Association for Specialist Fire Protection Foundation Course in Passive Fire Protection provides essential knowledge and understanding in this key fire protection specialism.
The content of the training embeds current best practice and draws on the technical expertise provided by the ASFP. It aims to equip candidates with the knowledge required to demonstrate competency, while also offering a route for progression and academic recognition in this key fire protection specialism.
The training courses are the first in the UK and Ireland to enable candidates to study to obtain a recognised qualification in passive fire protection. Individuals who undertake the training will have the opportunity to progress to new Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in Passive Fire Protection provided by the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), a nationally and internationally recognised awarding organisation regulated by the qualification regulators Ofqual.

Without a doubt, this was the most enjoyable professional development experience of my career, so far. This professional development and learning, provided by Phil Brownhill of ASFP, embodies what we now know about modern, professional
learning: it must be job-embedded, long-term, engaging, passion-based and permit the individual’s development to increase at their own pace. Phil and the ASFP have their feet firmly planted in the 21st Century; their understanding
and knowledge of good teaching practices, coupled with a deep understanding of networked learning and digital technologies is the basis for this compelling course. All professional development should be like this!
Etex
I have found the e-learning clear and a great way of learning the complex issue of Passive Fire Protection. The platform is easy to use and I like the way you have constantly raised questions to reinforce the learning. This will
be useful when I am using the platform for my revision before the exams. alongside the course notes you have prepared. This is the best e-learning I have experienced, well done Phil.
Avert Fire
I always preferred one to one classroom learning, however from what I’ve seen to date with this programme has changed my opinion It is really interactive, fun and such an easy format to navigate.

Phil Brownhill is an excellent trainer. He kept us all very engaged on what is a difficult topic to entertain! He asked about every member and made sure we were fully up to speed. I have already recommended this course to a number
of colleagues in the industry. I would be extremely grateful if you would kindly keep me informed if a Level 4 in passive fire protection training course is formed. Many Thanks.
Etex
Thank you for sending through this additional guidance and further sample questions to supplement the excellent instruction you’ve provided over the last 6 training days for the course. I have enjoyed our discussions and debates,
all of which have given me a far broader understanding of the overall subject matter, greatly appreciated.

The venue did incredibly well given the COVID restrictions the food was better than I expected under the circumstances. Phil’s delivery of the content was extremely good. He clearly knows the subject inside out.
Euroform Products Ltd (SIG plc)
I found the course to be delivered to an exceptionally high standard by an individual who is clearly an expert in his field. In my view, there was an excellent balance of theory underpinned by diagrams, drawings and video collateral
to clearly demonstrate the importance and application of the learnings. Another important point from a student’s point of view is the encouragement for interactive engagement from the class which was heavily encouraged.
Baily Garner
The training and presentation of the course content, discussions and relating the training to real projects and examples given by Phil and Chris have been excellent. Always supportive and explaining etc. Brilliant.
Firefly
Firefly have a number of our Technical Sales team on the Level 3 Passive Fire Protection training with the ASFP. Chris Sharman has provided excellent training with a clear depth of expertise, but has also been particularly engaging
and brings contributions out of everyone involved. Doing the course in a classroom situation has been very popular due to the level of discussion and knowledge sharing that goes on between everyone. The professionalism of the
course provision reflects well on the ASFP and everyone who is committed to driving up knowledge and standards in the Passive Fire Protection industry.
