The Online Introduction to Passive Fire Protection for Installers course is designed to create initial awareness across the scope of passive fire training. This includes common passive fire protection practices as well as awareness of structural fire protection, fire resisting walls and floors, cavity barriers, fire resistant doors and glazing, fire resisting ducts and dampers, firestopping, fire testing and certification.
The Firestopping for Installers course provides a more comprehensive level of knowledge of firestopping installation. The includes information on where and how the following are used: batt and mastic systems, fire resistant sealants, fire resistant mortars, fire resistant bags and pillows, intumescent pipe closures, linear gap seals, fire resistant foams, fire resistant cavity barriers and fire barriers. These invaluable insights provide the relevant level of knowledge required for correct installation and application of products used in firestopping.
 
 
The course provides an overview of passive fire protection at a basic level, and so is intended to provide a first step for those considering a career in the passive fire protection industry.
Those completing the Intro course may want to raise their level of knowledge by completing the firestopping course, if relevant to the work that they do or if they want to gain a more in-depth knowledge of firestopping. If you wanted to progress further you would then move onto the Foundation Course in Passive Fire Protection Level 2, and then Level 3 after that for a more advanced level of passive fire protection.
We have online versions of these courses, or classroom learning is available. Please note: These courses are to prepare workers for the IFE exam. This exam holds specific assessment criteria which our courses follow, but private study alongside these courses is encouraged to achieve a successful pass mark.
