ASFP training courses are split into four stages, from just starting out with the Introduction courses to being very experienced in the industry and studying towards your IFE Level 3 Exam. All ASFP training courses can be found below.

We will be releasing more Intro Courses in the future with a wide range of tailor-made content.

Firestopping for Installers
This brand new, online-only, course is specifically designed for those carrying out installation of firestopping products and systems. Gain invaluable insights into the world of firestopping products and systems, understanding their
purpose and vital significance in maintaining safety and preventing potential disasters.
Study Towards Your Level 2 and Level 3 Qualifications
These training courses provide delegates with the necessary information to study towards the IFE Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in passive fire protection.
Level 2 - Foundation Course in Passive Fire Protection
This intermediate-level course offers a foundation in fire safety and fire science, providing units on a selected range of PFP systems.
For those who have passed Level 2 and want to continue their learning, this course covers the additional training not taught in Level 2 that is required to pass Level 3.
The formal examination for both the Level 2 & 3 Foundation Certificates in Passive Fire Protection is run by the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE). You can read more about the exam & the accompanying qualification, and/or book your place at the exam by clicking the button below. (Note this takes you outside of the ASFP website).
Candidates should remember that the qualifications are the equivalent to a GCSE (Level 2 certificate) and an A Level (Level 3 certificate) this means that
as well as the training course, candidates will need to allow time to study the syllabus, additional reading and previous examination papers. Those who succeed, start early, organise themselves well and allow sufficient
time to properly prepare. We recommend booking a course well in advance of your exam.
ASFP Training is perfect for those just starting out or studying for a recognised IFE qualification
ASFP training is split into four stages, from just starting out, to very experienced. All of our training courses can be found on the right-hand side of the page. For more information on all of our training and to see the stages of progression,
please read below.
Providing a first step into the Passive Fire Protection (PFP) industry, the ASFP's Online Introduction to PFP courses provide a basic overview of PFP for those just starting out in the
industry, considering a career change, or upskilling. Covering key types of passive fire protection and their use, the ASFP offers both a general course and a course specifically tailored for firestopping PFP.
If you are an installer of PFP products and systems, and you have done your intro course, a great next step would be the firestopping for Installers course. This course will expand further
into the world of firestopping products and systems.
The next step in your PFP education journey would be to study towards your level 2 Certificate in PFP qualifications awarded by the Institution for Fire Engineers (IFE), a nationally and internationally recognised awarding organisation
regulated by the qualification regulators Ofqual. Embedding current best practices and drawing on the technical expertise of the ASFP, this course aims to equip candidates with the knowledge required to achieve this IFE qualification,
contributing to competence and offering a route for progression in this key fire protection specialism.
Depending on your experience level the next step after level 2 is the level 3 Certificate in PFP qualifications. This is a higher level course that includes all the knowledge learnt in Level 2 but goes more in-depth offering a foundation in
fire safety and fire science as well as units on the full range of passive fire protection systems. If you have already passed your Level 2 exam and want to continue your learning into Level 3 then we recommend the Transition Course which
removes all the information you will have already learnt from Level 2 and only teaches you the new information. The Level 2 and Level 3 Foundation Courses for Passive Fire Protection are the first courses in the UK and Ireland to enable
candidates to study towards recognised qualifications in PFP and are suitable for those throughout the construction industry including designers, specifiers, contractors, specialist installers, building owner occupiers, and enforcement
agencies.
CITB Grant Funding
CITB-registered employers are able to claim grant funding of £600 for achievement of the IFE Certificate in Passive Fire Protection qualifications at levels 2 and 3.

Without a doubt, this was the most enjoyable professional development experience of my career, so far. This professional development and learning, provided by Phil Brownhill of ASFP, embodies what we now know about modern, professional
learning: it must be job-embedded, long-term, engaging, passion-based and permit the individual’s development to increase at their own pace. Phil and the ASFP have their feet firmly planted in the 21st Century; their understanding
and knowledge of good teaching practices, coupled with a deep understanding of networked learning and digital technologies is the basis for this compelling course. All professional development should be like this!

I have found the e-learning clear and a great way of learning the complex issue of Passive Fire Protection. The platform is easy to use and I like the way you have constantly raised questions to reinforce the learning. This will
be useful when I am using the platform for my revision before the exams. alongside the course notes you have prepared. This is the best e-learning I have experienced, well done Phil.
Shaft Safety Systems
I found this to be an excellent online course, with a combination of detailed instructional videos, interactive tests and case studies from the real world. I gained a better understanding of passive fire stopping principles and
learned how to effectively implement them on site while also preparing for the IFE exam.

Phil Brownhill is an excellent trainer. He kept us all very engaged on what is a difficult topic to entertain! He asked about every member and made sure we were fully up to speed. I have already recommended this course to a number
of colleagues in the industry. I would be extremely grateful if you would kindly keep me informed if a Level 4 in passive fire protection training course is formed. Many Thanks.

Thank you for sending through this additional guidance and further sample questions to supplement the excellent instruction you’ve provided over the last 6 training days for the course. I have enjoyed our discussions and debates,
all of which have given me a far broader understanding of the overall subject matter, greatly appreciated.

The venue did incredibly well given the COVID restrictions the food was better than I expected under the circumstances. Phil’s delivery of the content was extremely good. He clearly knows the subject inside out.
Euroform Products Ltd (SIG plc)
I found the course to be delivered to an exceptionally high standard by an individual who is clearly an expert in his field. In my view, there was an excellent balance of theory underpinned by diagrams, drawings and video collateral
to clearly demonstrate the importance and application of the learnings. Another important point from a student’s point of view is the encouragement for interactive engagement from the class which was heavily encouraged.

The training and presentation of the course content, discussions and relating the training to real projects and examples given by Phil and Chris have been excellent. Always supportive and explaining etc. Brilliant.
Firefly
Firefly have a number of our Technical Sales team on the Level 3 Passive Fire Protection training with the ASFP. Chris Sharman has provided excellent training with a clear depth of expertise, but has also been particularly engaging
and brings contributions out of everyone involved. Doing the course in a classroom situation has been very popular due to the level of discussion and knowledge sharing that goes on between everyone. The professionalism of the
course provision reflects well on the ASFP and everyone who is committed to driving up knowledge and standards in the Passive Fire Protection industry.
